Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Scribe web application and related services (the "Service"), operated by Christian Sosa-Lynch ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Scribe. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal authority to agree to these Terms.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Do not share your account with others or transfer it without our consent. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable Use

You may use Scribe for any lawful purpose. You agree NOT to:

• Record any person without their consent, where consent is required by law
• Use the Service to harass, defame, stalk, or harm others
• Upload or transmit content that violates intellectual property or privacy laws
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or otherwise abuse the Service
• Use the Service to process protected health information (PHI) unless covered by a separate BAA
• Resell or sublicense the Service without written permission
• Interfere with the Service's operation or other users' enjoyment of it

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

4. Recording Consent — Your Responsibility

Scribe is a tool. You are solely responsible for complying with all recording laws that apply to you, including obtaining consent from all parties to a conversation where required. Recording laws vary by US state and by country. Scribe displays a consent reminder before each recording, but this reminder does not constitute legal advice and does not transfer your obligation. If you are unsure, consult an attorney before recording.

5. Plans and Billing

Free Plan

The Free plan is provided at no cost with the limits described on our pricing page (currently: 3 meetings per month, 45 minutes per meeting, 120 minutes total per month, 3 of each premium AI feature per month, 7-day storage retention). Free-plan limits may change with reasonable notice.

Paid Plans

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe at the price displayed on the pricing page at the time of purchase. By upgrading, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice for existing subscribers.

Cancellation and Refunds

You can cancel anytime from your account settings or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you keep Pro access until then. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on first-time Pro subscriptions. To request a refund, email hi@usescribe.io within 30 days of your first payment.

Failed Payments

If a payment fails, we will attempt to charge your card again. After repeated failures, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan until billing is restored.

6. Your Content

You retain all rights to the meeting recordings, transcripts, and AI-generated artifacts associated with your account. We do not claim ownership of your content. By using Scribe, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the Service to you (e.g. sending your transcript to AWS Bedrock to generate a summary, then returning the result).

We do not use your content to train AI models. We do not share your content with other users or third parties except as needed to operate the Service (e.g. AWS, Stripe).

7. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or change features at any time. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

8. AI Accuracy Disclaimer

Scribe uses AI to generate summaries, action items, entity graphs, diagrams, and Jira tickets. AI outputs may contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations. Do not rely on AI-generated content for decisions with material consequences (medical, legal, financial) without independent verification. You are responsible for reviewing all AI outputs before acting on them.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scribe (and Christian Sosa-Lynch personally) is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in that period.

This does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Termination

You can stop using Scribe and delete your account at any time. We can terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify users by email and update the "Effective" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Douglas County, Nebraska, except where you have a non-waivable right to bring claims in your local jurisdiction.
